YO:
Here are some misc things to add to MagicWB by Martin Huttenloher. I've
included some icons I made and some WB prefs which I think look great with
the MWB. You may back your files up and try out the ones I've included.
I've even included a picture of what patterns:pattern6 looks like as a WB
backdrop (using NickPrefs (which is one of the icons I've included)).
Pattern6 is an 8 color, standard MWB palette picture which I drew (I like
it). In fact I've fixed all of patterns 1-10 so that the palette is consist
-ent, and so that black is not used (so it won't interfere with icon text
color. In the c: drawer there is a command called "rand," written by Troy
Morehouse, which you may use to randomize your backdrops (in your startup-
sequence/user-startup), like I do. Here are the lines which you need (you
may need to edit the paths):
c:copy sys:prefs/patterns/pattern`c:rand 1 10` ram:t/wb.pic
sys:prefs/wbpicture use
.
.
.
(end of your user-startup)
delete ram:t/wb.pic
This sets the startup to choose between six files all called patternX. So
rename all the patterns you want to use in this manner and change the 6 in
the rand arguments to the appropriate number. Now you also have to set
NickPrefs to load ram:t/wb.pic and save the prefs and bingo -> random
backdrops! Note that the "`" character is the one on the top left of your
keyboard, not the "'" - it makes a difference :-(
Also included is the RedSnapper icon for the cool new FredFish utility by
Darren Reid and Nick MacDonald (check it out ;-) Red Snapper generates
.profile database files for submisissions to the Fish collection.
AND!!!! A MWB DIRECTORY OPUS ICON!!! HURRAY!! :) :)
Check out the spinning.pre which is a busy-pointer to be used with the nick
prefs busy pointer animator...it's in the prefs/preset drawer (for best
results also use the pointer.ilbm which is a WB pointer that goes with the
spinning pointer I created).
Enjoy das junk...Later, Trevor Morris....
P.S. Darren Reid is writing a much way coolerest rand command so that you
don't have to rename all files "FileX" - Look for it...it'll be shareware
with a register fee of $1000.01 but man will it be worth it ;)
